1. What This Tool Does

TotalPaid helps you answer questions about your payment history by analysing bank statements you upload. It extracts transaction data, groups related transactions, and calculates totals based on your selections.

Important: The tool shows you data from your statements. It does not verify accuracy, provide financial advice, or guarantee completeness.

2. What This Tool Is Not

• Not legal advice: Results should not be used as evidence in legal, regulatory, or court proceedings without professional verification
• Not accounting advice: This tool does not replace a qualified accountant or auditor
• Not tax advice: Do not use results for tax filings without consulting a tax professional
• Not an official record: Outputs are summaries for personal reference, not certified financial documents
• Not a replacement for professional consultation: For important financial decisions, consult qualified professionals

3. Your Responsibilities

Document ownership

By uploading documents, you confirm that you have the legal right to access and process them. Do not upload:

• Documents belonging to others without their consent
• Documents obtained illegally
• Documents you're prohibited from sharing

Verification

You are responsible for verifying that results are accurate before using them for any purpose. The tool relies on the data in your statements — if your statements contain errors, the results will too.

Decisions

You make all decisions about which transactions to include or exclude. The tool suggests matches based on your query, but the final selection is yours. You accept responsibility for those choices.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the service
• Circumvent usage limits or payment requirements
• Use automated systems to access the service excessively
• Resell or redistribute the service without permission

5. Payment Terms

Free tier: Data spanning 3 months or less can be exported for free. No credit card required.

Paid usage: Data spanning more than 3 months is charged at $5 AUD per calendar year covered. Payment is required at export time and processed by Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

One payment, unlimited exports: Once you've paid for a session, you can export PDF and CSV reports as many times as you need.

6. Refund Policy

We'd rather fix the problem than argue about refunds. Our policy is simple and fair.

Full refund provided

• Tool failed to parse your statements correctly
• Parsing errors resulted in missing or incorrect transactions
• Calculation errors in your totals
• Corrupted or unusable export files
• Duplicate charges for the same session
• Technical failures that prevented service delivery

Partial refund considered

• Some transactions were missed due to unusual statement formatting
• Export formatting issues that affect usability
• Processing timeouts that required re-uploading

No refund provided

• Changed your mind after exporting
• Found fewer results than expected (the tool reports what's in your statements)
• Didn't understand what the tool does before paying
• Uploaded wrong files or asked the wrong question
• Results don't match your memory (we show what your statements show)
• Want to use the results for a different purpose than originally intended

How to request a refund

Contact us at hello@totalpaid.au with your session ID and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within 24 hours on business days. Refunds are processed back to your original payment method via Stripe.

7. Intellectual Property

Your data: You retain all rights to documents you upload and data you export. We claim no ownership over your financial information.

Our service: The service, including its design, code, and methodology, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or reverse-engineer the service.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for decisions made based on results from this tool
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service (if any)

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

9. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uptime. We may suspend or discontinue the service at any time for maintenance, updates, or other reasons. We'll provide notice when practical.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date will reflect changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For significant changes, we'll provide notice on the homepage.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in Australian courts.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, your session data is deleted per our standard retention policy.
